IMPORTANT

You've hidden important updates
You've asked us not to show you one or more high priority updates but your computer might be at risk until they are installed. Restore them now

This is a message from Microsoft when I'm in Microsoft Update. when I click on restore them now, the important update listed is IE8. This is sad. IE8 is not an important update and will not put my computer at risk especially since I've disabled access to it. Make sure that you don't have your computer set to automatically download microsoft updates or it will automatically download IE8.

Err, what?

IE8 is a VERY important update. Particuarily for those who are still using Internet Explorer as a web browser (which is a lot of people).

But it shouldn't be automatically downloaded. The update is quite sizeable and is unnecessary for many people who don't need it. It's microsoft's way of forcing it onto us

Well considering the intelligence of it's users, I don't blame them. Most technically literate people set all their updates to 'Ask me first' anyhow.
